I can’t believe that this week was my final week at Henry Bertrand! The time has flown by and I have enjoyed every second of it! This last week the sample requests and jobs that needed doing had quietened down, allowing me to make the most of gathering some final fabric research ready for my final collection.
At the start of the week, the team had received the Peclers Paris ‘Colors’ book. Peclers is one of the world’s leading trend forecasting and consulting agencies. The book that the team had received in the post was the upcoming trends with the stories and colours for A/W 2020/21. When I got asked if I wanted to look through it, I jumped at the opportunity, knowing that this research would be a great step for my final collection. One section of the book that I particularly liked was the colour story, showing how different colour categories have developed over the past years and into the next two season. It was presented in a clear and easily understandable way and was interesting to see how different colours are changing, some only slightly, but changing never the less. I made sure to take photographs of lots of the pages as I went through, ready for creating a research file for final year.
For a couple of days this week, I worked on putting together ‘blue’ catalogues. The blue catalogue, presents all the ‘plains’ from Henry Bertrand’s collection. This includes all the chiffons, satins, crepes, wools and many others. These styles of catalogue are designed for universities, small start-up business and theatres to use. After putting together about 5 of these catalogues, one was handed over to me. As I had been making them up I had thought about how helpful it would be to always have access to one of these books! It never occurred to me through that the team would be give me one to take back to give to uni to use! They said that as they offer a great student discount, it’s a good way for students to purchase high quality fabrics easily! I think that the catalogue will be a great asset for me and my course mates to have in final year and as I have it to myself for over the summer, I can carry on with fabric research!
With this catalogue in hand, leaving on my last day, I was heavily encouraged to take a trip back to the showroom in the summer. Once I have more research on the route of my final collection, the team told me to bring my ideas in and they will help me to find a unique fabric that I can use. This will help my collection stand out from others who may just shop at places such as Goldhawk Road, where fabric duplication across collections and universities can occur! I am excited to go back in the summer and can’t wait to see what fabrics they suggest, to help me bring my ideas alive!
